Frequently asked questions

What do you need to run RadioActivity?

RadioActivity is web-based, so it runs on PC's, Macs, even Linux. As long as you have an internet connection and a modern browser, you can run RadioActivity.

How do I install RadioActivity?

There's no software or hardware to install, and we take care of all of the RadioActivity servers, so it doesn't require any IT staff. Once we set up your account, all you have to do is sign in to manage your playlists, logging, and station data through our secure web-based interface.

What's the setup process?

Once we've sent your station its RadioActivity setup instructions, your station admin or GM will need to spend about twenty minutes setting up your station's profile and some DJ logins - and then you can start logging your shows. It's a quick process, so there aren't any delays in your broadcasting.

Our station would like to keep copies of our data on-site

No problem - at any given moment, you can download your station's entire playlist database in HTML, text, or Excel format. You can print them, too, if you'd like. We can even send you a CD or DVD containing a snapshot of your data - for a small processing fee - if for some reason you can't burn your own. It is, after all, your data - we're just holding onto it for you.

How do I add live information from RadioActivity to my website?

Your station's webmaster can have our tools up and running in about ten minutes using the supplied documentation. in short, your data comes in the form of RSS feeds, which you then integrate into your live website.

Don't have a webmaster? We can work with you to get RadioActivity tied into your station's website. Just contact us for details.

Does RadioActivity work with our Automation system?

Right now RadioActivity plays well with BSI, Megaseg, Direttore, Winamp, ZaraRadio and several others. The general rule is that if it logs playlist data, we can work with it. We've also laid a groundwork that will let us configure other systems we haven't seen yet to 'talk' to RadioActivity, but the details vary by station. See our blog for more information, or contact us for more information.

Why is the number of reports capped at a certain number for my station?

... or ...

How do I get more reports for my station?

Calculating playlist reports is computationally 'expensive'. One month of playlists can contain about 2500 plays, and error checking and tabulation for all that data can mean running 3,500,000 calculations because we errorcheck entries for completeness, typos, etc.

To keep the RadioActivity servers from bogging down, we farm these calculations out to multiple computers in our data center, and we have to load-balance that sort of thing to make sure everybody can run their reports. There's a lot of infrastructure behind RadioActivity, and thus there are limits on the weekly reports.

Your station can purchase additional reports at the rate of $30 per 20 reports. Just contact RadioActivity to add more reports to your station's profile.

I have a great idea! Why don't you ...

RadioActivity is a work in progress - we're constantly adding new features and hacking in more tools to work with your playlists. If you have a suggestion or a feature you'd like to share with us, we'd like to hear them. Drop us a line.
